The Clinic Dr. Otto Buchinger in Bad Pyrmont is the parent house of Buchinger Therapeutic Fasting run in the third medical generation by the Buchinger family.

Dr. Otto Buchinger I coined the term "Therapeutic Fasting", after he cured his own severe rheumatoid arthritis by fasting in 1919. In July 1920 he founded the "Sanatorium Dr. Otto Buchinger" at Witzenhausen and soon he treated patients from all over the world. The parent house was relocated to Bad Pyrmont in 1935.

At the beginning of 1953, Dr. Otto H. F. Buchinger II (doctor and homoeopath like his father) took over the management of the Clinic Dr. Buchinger in Bad Pyrmont as chief physician from his father Dr. Otto Buchinger I.

In April 1988 the third medical Buchinger generation took over the Clinic Dr. Otto Buchinger in Bad Pyrmont, when Dr. Andreas Buchinger became the chief physician. The Clinic Dr. Buchinger in Bad Pyrmont has been run by the Dr. Buchinger family since its foundation.
